A fond memory of Brad:
A couple of years ago, our facility was assisting with a training which included police, sheriff, and fire departments. While I can't share details about the event, I can share that during the orientation for the event, the group was asked for a couple of volunteers for a special assignment. Once it was explained what that assignment included, no one raised their hand to volunteer... except Brad, his hand went right up! Since I was sitting next to Brad, my hand went up too. We received a private explanation of our roles and only had 15 minutes to prepare. It was possible we would be sequestered for up to 4 hours during the event.
Well, by the time I was able to go to my desk, then get to the assigned area and talk with Brad about what we might need, I found he had already found comfortable chairs for us, grabbed some bottled waters, and staged our little area. He made sure we were well prepared and comfortable. After making sure of a bathroom stop, we settled in for a long wait. During that time an officer was stationed with us playing his role. Very interesting to see a side you wouldn't normally see. After a while, the officer started asking us for ideas and suggestions. We had a great time "helping" and some of the ideas were outrageous (but totally plausible for the situation). We had a great time with the officer and Brad was totally game for whatever was asked. The crescendo of our act was to end with a big flash-bang finish where Brad was able run out yelling and leave me to my scene. He was a riot! At the end of the event, we dubbed ourselves the "Flash-Bang Duo."
I had never heard this story. That’s such a wonderful memory. Thank you for sharing.
